This page is a draft that we’re still reviewing. If you have a question about it, email us at hello@websyte.uk.
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use websyte.uk or our services, what we do with it and the rights you have. We've kept it as plain as we can.
Who we are
websyte.uk is run by websyte, the trading name of [owner’s name – to be added], a sole trader. We're the "controller" of your personal information, which means we decide how it's used and we're responsible for looking after it. We're registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), number [ICO registration number – to be added].
If you have any questions about your information, email us at hello@websyte.uk or write to us at [address for notices – to be added].
What we collect
When you contact us or ask for a quote: your name, email address, business name, the topic and your message, plus anything else you choose to tell us. The same applies when you request a one page website: we also keep the details you typed into the preview (for example your business name, trade, phone number and the areas you cover).
When you become a customer: your name, contact details, billing address, what you've bought from us, your invoices and payments, and your messages and support tickets. Card payments are handled by our payment provider through our client area. We never see or store your full card number.
When you buy a domain: domain registries require the registrant's name, address, email and phone number. For pay monthly websites we register the domain in our name for the first 12 months, then transfer it into yours. For one page websites and domains bought on their own it's in your name from the start.
When we host your website or email: the content of your website, your email accounts and their messages, and the files you upload. We only look at these when we need to, for example to fix a problem, restore a backup or deal with abuse.
When you browse websyte.uk: basic technical information that every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visited. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis

| Invoices, payments and keeping accounts | Contract and legal obligation (tax law) |
| Register and renew domains | Contract, and the rules set by domain registries |
| Keep our website and services secure (spam and bot checks, logs) | Legitimate interests |
| Count visits to improve websyte.uk | Legitimate interests (no cookies, no profiling) |
| Send you service messages (renewals, outages, changes to these terms) | Contract and legitimate interests |
We don't send marketing emails unless you've asked us to, and you can stop them at any time. We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for automated decisions that affect you.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted companies to run our services. They can only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Upmind: our billing, customer and support system, which runs our client area at my.websyte.uk.
- Cloudflare: hosts websyte.uk and our one page websites, checks forms for bots (Turnstile) and provides our cookieless analytics.
- Webfort: provides the servers and control panel (Enhance) for our hosting.
- Our payment provider: processes card payments made through the client area.
- Domain registries and registrars (such as Nominet for .uk domains): to register and manage domains. Registries may publish some registration details in public "WHOIS" records, depending on the domain ending and the type of registrant.
- WhatsApp (Meta): only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. When they do, we make sure it's protected by UK-approved safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become customers: up to 2 years after we last heard from you, then deleted.
- Customer records, invoices and payments: for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
- Website content, email and files: for as long as we host them. After your service ends we delete them within 30 days, unless you've asked us to send you a copy first.
- Backups: these roll over automatically and expire on their own schedule.
- Server and security logs: a few weeks at most.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong;
- ask us to delete your information (we may need to keep some records, such as invoices, by law);
- object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests;
- ask us to restrict how we use it;
- ask for information you gave us in a format you can take elsewhere.
To use any of these rights, email hello@websyte.uk. We'll reply within one month. There's no charge.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we make an important change, we'll update the date at the top and, if you're a customer, let you know by email.
