Acceptable use policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

This page is a draft that we’re still reviewing. If you have a question about it, email us at hello@websyte.uk.

Our hosting is shared with other customers, so we ask everyone to use it responsibly. This policy forms part of our Terms of service and applies to every website, hosting account, email account and domain we provide.

You mustn't use our services to

  • break the law, or help anyone else break it;
  • host or share content that's illegal, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, or content that infringes someone's copyright or trade marks;
  • harass, threaten or defame anyone, or encourage hatred or violence;
  • send spam or unsolicited bulk email, or host websites that are advertised by spam;
  • run phishing sites, scams, fake shops or anything designed to mislead people;
  • spread malware, viruses or other harmful code;
  • try to break into, scan or attack other systems, including ours;
  • collect people's personal information without a lawful reason.

Fair use of shared resources

To keep things fast for everyone, please don't:

  • run cryptocurrency mining, open proxies, VPN endpoints, Tor nodes or game servers;
  • use your hosting as a file store or backup for data your website doesn't use;
  • run processes that use excessive CPU, memory or disk activity for long periods;
  • send email in large volumes. Use a dedicated email marketing service for newsletters.

"Unlimited" features are unlimited for normal use by a website or small business. They aren't a way to get around the rules above.

Email

Only send email to people who expect it. Every marketing email must include an easy way to unsubscribe, and you must follow UK rules on electronic marketing (PECR).

Keeping your account secure

Use strong passwords and keep your website software, such as WordPress and its plugins, up to date. If your account is compromised, we'll help you clean it up. We may need to take it offline first to protect other customers.

What happens if this policy is broken

Where we can, we'll contact you first and give you a chance to put things right. If something is serious or putting others at risk, we may suspend the affected website, email account or service straight away and then contact you. Serious or repeated breaches can lead to the service ending, as set out in our Terms of service. We'll report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires it.

Reporting abuse

If you see something on a website we host that breaks this policy, email hello@websyte.uk with the details and we'll look into it.
